so over the cold ...

My boy was supposed to be going on a school trip to the beach earlier this week, to study the coastline ... of course he was looking forward to the beach games and ice-creams more than the work aspect of the trip.

It was postponed as the forecast was -8°C, snow and 50mph winds ... not beach weather! I was relieved, he was disappointed. The first thing he said in the morning was "I'm so over the cold mum ...", swiftly followed by "it's not fair, we don't get our school trip and it hasn't even snowed, so school is still open!"

I have to say I'm with him on the cold front. I thought winter was done and dusted for this year. Don't get me wrong, I love cold weather, crisp frosty mornings, dressing up in lots of layers, cozy evenings ... however I am ready for a change. I can't wait to get outside more, to go to the playground without the danger of frostbite, to get digging in the garden without our tools buckling on ice, and maybe we'll even manage a family trip to the beach.

All these thoughts of warmer weather got me looking through my photo archives. I am making a concerted effort to be better at actually doing something with the masses of photos I take - albums, frames and a little bit of blogging! Anyway, last night I came across some pictures from our last day out at the beach. At the end of last summer we went to Whitstable, a beautiful little seaside town with just enough sand for a play, lovely stones and shells to collect, boardwalks along the seafront and a bustling little high street with plenty of groovy vintage shops to keep me happy! It seems such a long time ago ...

I just looked out of the window ... would you believe it, it's snowing again!!! Are you looking forward to spring, have you made any plans for things you want to do ...?
