school holidays

I love the school holidays, it's not just that I have my kiddos around for company (that novelty can wear off quite quickly!), but there's the added bonus of no routine - aaah ... You see I've never been much of a routine person (it drives my husband up the wall ...), I prefer to go with the flow, leave my options open, so if something fun pops up it's easy to accommodate change. OK, what I'm really saying is that I'm pretty disorganised, but it sounds a heck of a lot cooler if I dress up my failings to sound more like floaty bohemian spontaneity.

I find it so easy to slip into the holiday flow, lazy mornings, late lunches, long day trips and delayed bedtimes, the problems only arise once school starts again. I just can't get back into the rhythm, always running late, hollering at the kiddos to hurry up, sprinting to school, faffing around and achieving nothing, it doesn't sound so bohemian and floaty now does it?!

So we are now at the end of the second week back after the school halfterm hols, and at last there is some semblance of order in the eskimo*rose household. All is calm, my chores are done, and Elsie is happily playing with her little friend ... time for a cuppa and a moment to sort through the photos I took during our visit to my mum's ...

  1. Emma, I just love your babies names. My next door neighbour is called Nellie, she is 93 and super cute :o)
I am a bit like you when it comes to having time off I like to take my time and go a little with the flow...I love the break from packed lunches and alarm clocks!
Emma, I am so sorry I can't believe I missed your last post, where have I been??? I love your yarn bombing and am an avid follower of Meredith blog. You are a super cool mum and your kiddies will remember this very daring and brave thing to do. I have only yarn bombed once and got myself into a sweat about being "caught" but was so pleased I did and its still on the bench in town. I am desperate to do it again and will definitely be planning to do this sometime soon I hope xox P

    1. That doesn't surprise me, the oldest two are named after our grandparents. Nell was Keith's Nan, she would be 97 now, and she's the only Nell I've ever come across!!!
You defo have to do it again, I find the minor league rule breaking of yarn bombing strangely exhilarating!
      xx
